Abstract: Liberal democracy in recent times has been attacked through narratives that call into check the institutions traditionally needed to ensure the democratic model built in the post-World War II. Thus, in view of the unprecedented democratic crisis that Brazil, and part of the world, is going through, the research aimed to evaluate the performance of Brazilian political parties, in a place of concentrated control of constitutionality, in the period of democratic crisis. In this sense, the study proposed the answer to the following problem: did the political parties, in the face of the democratic crisis in the Brazilian scenario, contribute, through concentrated control of constitutionality, to support Brazilian democracy? If the hypothesis is confirmed, what were the contents most active by the political parties in the period? The hypothesis initially raised led to an increase in party action before the Supreme Court between 2018 and 2021, motivated by the democratic crisis. Thus, the central objective of the work was to investigate the contributions of political parties in sustaining democracy, through concentrated control, based on the theoretical basis on political parties and constitutional jurisdiction and, consequently, the practical analysis of the actions that involved the two institutions in the period. For this purpose, the deductive method was used, starting from the general to the specific, the bibliographic procedure method and bibliographic research techniques, in addition to the case-by-case research procedure raised in jurisprudential research before the Supreme Federal Court. The importance of the study was the need to understand the relevance of institutions in sustaining democracy and safeguarding fundamental rights, based on the increase in party action in the most diverse themes. In this scenario, the hypothesis initially raised was
confirmed that the parties contributed to the maintenance of democracy, especially in times of crisis, reinforcing their indispensability to the Brazilian constitutional democratic model.
