We will discuss in the article the notion of document in Archivology and Information Science. To this end, this study aims to describe the possible contributions that the materiality and institutionality of information can offer to the archival document. The methodology was based on a literature review and analysis of it in the field of archivology, making the exploratory research critical and reflective. Thus, in a preliminary way, the article sought to present the perspectives and contributions of the materiality and institutionality of the information to the document and to relate it to the notion of document in archivology.​
