The curricular internship was held at the Veterinary Hospital of Caldas da Rainha, Nobrevet, between March 8, 2021 and May 31, 2021. During this period, the student had the opportunity to deepen the theoretical-practical knowledge she acquired during her academic path, essentially in Nursing in new companion animals, an area which she is very interested. This learning was expanded through the student’s participation in consultations, essentialy ‘’Follow up’’ and veterinary nursing services, helping the veterinarian during surgical procedures, especially ovariohisterectomies and orchiectomies, performing laboratory analyzes and taking care of hospitalized animals. The incidence of dental pathologies in rodents is quite common, especially dental malocclusion. Studies related to this disease have evolved over time, as well as its diagnostic tools and treatments. Currently, when trying to correct a dental malocclusion, the focus is not only on the treatment, but, essentially, on the causes that led to the development of this pathology. To obtain these answers, it is necessary to performing an complete anamnesis and physical examination. Radiography is an essential complementary diagnostic test to not only detect dental malocclusion, but also establish its status and prognosis. Dental malocclusion can be prevented through good communication between veterinarians or veterinary nurses and tutors, once with it, crucial knowledge for the management of rodents is transmitted. The clinical case presented will address the clinical picture of a chinchilla with dental malocclusion, as well as its diagnosis and treatment.
